Explosion at Bank in Putilkovo
A 16-year-old teenager is suspected of carrying out an explosion at a bank in Putilkovo, near Moscow, on March 7, 2026. According to the regional prosecutor's office, the boy acted on instructions received via telephone. He brought a canister of flammable liquid into the bank, poured it inside the premises, and set it alight.
The blast blew out the doors and set ATM machines on fire. Prior to the explosion, a boy dressed in black was seen fleeing the scene and was subsequently detained. Emergency services, including firefighters and paramedics, responded quickly. Crucially, no one was injured in the incident. A Pattern of Explosions
This case follows a series of other explosions in Moscow and Kazakhstan. In Moscow's Yuzhnoye Butovo district, a blast occurred in a multi-story residential building. Separately, in Shchuchinsk, Kazakhstan, an explosion at a cafe killed seven people, including a minor, and injured 28 others. Of those injured, 13 required hospitalization while eight were treated and released.
The incident at the suburban Moscow bank underscores growing security concerns in the region amidst these recent attacks. The deadly events in Kazakhstan, in particular, have raised fears about the potential spread of such violent acts.
