Thailand is gaining more and more popularity every year, which is not surprising, as in this country one can not only relax but also earn or study, and all at quite affordable prices.

It is important to note that the information regarding the necessity of obtaining a visa to Thailand for Ukrainians is constantly changing, and it is crucial to understand whether a visa is needed at all, and if so, which one and how much it costs.

Do Ukrainians need a visa to Thailand?

As of October 2026, citizens of Ukraine with a regular passport can visit Thailand for tourism purposes without prior visa arrangements for up to 30 days. This rule has been in effect since September 15, 2026, when Thailand revised its visa-free entry conditions for foreigners and abolished the previous 60-day stay provision for the corresponding group of countries. Ukraine is on the list of countries whose citizens are allowed visa-free tourist entry for 30 days.

Therefore, for a regular tourist trip, short vacation, sightseeing, or visiting friends, Ukrainians generally do not need to obtain a tourist visa in advance, provided the planned duration of stay does not exceed the established limit and other requirements are met. Under the visa-free regime, a citizen from the included country can approach border control without a prior visa, while Visa on Arrival involves separate processing of a permit upon arrival for citizens of certain states. Ukraine is on the list for the 30-day visa-free tourist entry, so Ukrainians do not need to consider the Visa on Arrival procedure as a standard entry method.

A visa may be required if planning to stay in the country longer than the allowed 30 days, if visiting Thailand for a purpose not covered by visa-free rules, or if making multiple trips under conditions where the visa-free regime does not match the planned route. In such cases, it is advisable to consider applying for a tourist visa, a multiple-entry tourist visa, or the appropriate category of non-immigrant visa in advance.

Before traveling, it is crucial to check which passport is being used for entry. Rules may vary for regular, diplomatic, service passports, and other travel documents. If a citizen of Ukraine also holds a passport from another country, the applicable requirements will depend on the document used to cross the border. The information on the airline ticket, electronic arrival card, and passport must match.

Visa-free entry also does not eliminate the requirements for passport validity, confirmation of return travel, financial means, and completion of electronic...
