Starting from October 12, entry into the EU will change: drivers and passengers will have to provide biometric data

Ukrainians have been informed that starting from October 12, entry into the European Union will undergo changes. According to the Press Service of the Embassy of Ukraine in Poland, the EU is implementing a new EES control system for crossing the Schengen zone border, which concerns Ukrainian citizens.


Beginning October 12, all travelers by car must leave their vehicles for verification and provision of biometric information. Drivers and passengers must exit the vehicle to provide biometric data, such as fingerprints of four fingers, photo, scanning of passport data, and registration of border crossing information.


Individuals who refuse to provide biometric data will not be able to enter the EU.

Similar requirements apply to rail transport, but specific details regarding the procedure are still being clarified. The maximum duration of stay remains unchanged - up to 90 days within 180.


Purpose of the new system


EU representatives explain that the new system is aimed at strengthening control over the visa regime, combating the use of counterfeit documents, and enhancing security in Schengen countries.


Earlier, Ukrainians were informed about the new rules for entry and stay in the European Union.


It was explained that starting from October 12, Ukrainians traveling to EU countries will have to provide biometric data for entry. This is a new requirement aimed at enhancing security and strengthening control at the borders of the European Union.
