As of September 1, 2026, Ukrainian students in Poland will study under new rules. Special norms introduced after the beginning of the full-scale war will cease to apply, and children from Ukraine will transition to the general education system for foreigners. At the same time, some support mechanisms for them will remain. This is reported by In Poland.

New rules for Ukrainian students in Poland starting September 1, 2026

The 2025/2026 academic year will be the last in which separate rules will apply for children who arrived from Ukraine due to the war.

Starting from the new academic year, Ukrainian students will study under the same norms as other foreign students in Poland.

If a child does not sufficiently speak Polish or needs additional adaptation to the learning process, the school will be able to organize free support.

In particular, the following is provided:

  • additional Polish language classes of at least two hours a week for up to 24 months;

  • assistance from a teacher's assistant who speaks the student’s native language for up to 12 months;

  • additional classes in specific subjects to catch up on knowledge for up to 12 months;

  • the establishment of preparatory classes for children who need additional adaptation.

The 'Friendly School' program in Poland: what support will remain

Despite the cancellation of the special regime for Ukrainian students, the state program 'Friendly School' (Przyjazna szkoła) will continue to operate in Poland.

Within the framework of the program, educational institutions will still be able to receive funding to hire assistants who will help children integrate into the new environment, as well as to improve teacher qualifications for working with students who have migration experience.

Thus, starting in September, Ukrainian children will study under the general rules for foreigners, but key tools for language and educational support for them will remain available.

Let us remind you, in Poland they want to imprison for 30 years for violations in the army.
