Russian in captivity: mother received a body instead of her son, but uncovered the deception

Мати поховала надію, отримавши сумні звістки про сина, загиблого за гратами.

Alexey Bushuev, a young 21-year-old Russian who went to war against Ukraine, surprised everyone by being alive after he was believed to be dead. His mother, Anastasia, did not believe the reports from the commanders and did everything possible to verify her son's alive status.

Anastasia desperately worked to prove Alexey's alive status. From volunteers and a chatbot, she received confirmation of his captivity. Despite the resistance from law enforcement and representatives, the woman succeeded in opening the coffin, which contained another person, and received confirmation from the Red Cross about Alexey's captivity.

It later turned out that Alexey himself admitted to the Ukrainian military that he came to the war with the goal of marrying to obtain Russian citizenship. It was also revealed that this was the second time a Russian occupier from the Chelyabinsk region ended up in the captivity of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Signing contracts to participate in the war can have unexpected consequences for those who risk their lives. It is always important to verify the actual status of fighters and prisoners of war, and for people to hope for the return of their sons, daughters, and loved ones home alive.
