The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed laws to extend martial law and mobilization in the country until November 5.

Earlier, on July 15, the Verkhovna Rada supported another extension of martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine. At that time, 320 members of parliament voted in favor of the corresponding decision.

This is already the sixteenth extension of martial law since the beginning of the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine. The decision means that the emergency legal regime will last for another three months, providing the state with the necessary powers to organize the defense of the country.

The law will come into force on August 7, and thus the regime of martial law and mobilization will last at least until November 5.

The importance of martial law for the state

Amid the ongoing aggression of Russia, martial law remains an instrument of state security that allows the authorities to impose a number of restrictions. Among them are restrictions on the freedom of movement of citizens and transport, labor conscription, forced expropriation of property, and the conversion of enterprises to work for the needs of defense.

The signed laws on extending martial law and mobilization in Ukraine until November 5 create the opportunity to provide the country with the necessary powers to organize defense in the conditions of the ongoing conflict with Russia. Martial law remains an important instrument of state security that allows the authorities to establish restrictions to ensure national security and defense capability.
