Meeting Between Ukraine's President and the Coordination Staff
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened a session with the Coordination Staff for Prisoner of War Treatment, focusing on the outcomes of exchanges conducted this year and preparations for future swaps. As a key point of discussion, it was reported that on April 24, a prisoner exchange between Ukraine and the Russian Federation took place, resulting in the return of 193 Ukrainian service members to their homeland.
The released military personnel included:
- Members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
- Airborne troops
- Naval forces
- Territorial defense units
- National Guard of Ukraine
- National Police
- State Border Guard Service
- State Special Transport Service
Among those freed were soldiers, sergeants, and several officers who had defended the country on the Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kursk fronts. The youngest defender is 24 years old, having been captured on the Donetsk front in 2023, while the oldest released combatant is 60 years of age.
"We hope to soon welcome home the Ukrainians currently held captive in Russia and on temporarily occupied territory. The Coordination Staff has prepared the necessary documents and lists for exchanges, and communication with the Russian side on these humanitarian matters is ongoing. We remember all our people still in Russian captivity—both military and civilian."

The president also stressed the need for progress in exchanging all categories of prisoners, including journalists, city mayors, community leaders, energy workers, and soldiers—particularly members of the Azov regiment, marines, and paratroopers.
"Our goal is to bring all our people home from captivity. We are cross-checking all information and verifying every name."

The meeting underscored Ukraine's ongoing efforts to recover prisoners of war and highlighted the importance of international support in this process. "We will also speak with some partner country leaders to take additional steps," the president added.
