President Meets with Majority Coalition Representatives

On May 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a private session with members of the parliamentary majority coalition in the Verkhovna Rada. The discussions centered on the legislature's agenda, national resilience, and Ukraine's European integration path. Zelenskyy emphasized the value of constructive dialogue, stating:

“A meeting with the majority faction in Ukraine’s parliament. A good, very substantive conversation. We are preparing for upcoming sessions.”

He further stressed the need for tangible outcomes benefiting all Ukrainians: “What is required for the resilience of our state and for Ukraine’s movement toward the European Union. Thank you for the constructive approach.”

Leadership Refresh Within the Servant of the People Party

Notably, the last closed-door meeting between the president and the Servant of the People faction took place in November 2025. This latest gathering marks a key step in preparations for future parliamentary sessions.

Additionally, an extraordinary congress of the Servant of the People party was held on March 27, resulting in a leadership overhaul. Delegates voted to re-elect David Arakhamia as head of the Political Council and Oleksandr Zavitnevych as head of the National Council of Communities. The congress also established a new deputy chairman structure, with the following appointments:

  • Vitaliy Bezgin was selected as deputy for temporarily occupied territories, internally displaced persons, and faction network affairs.
  • Arseniy Pushkarenko became deputy for party development.
  • Vadym Halaychuk was appointed deputy for international affairs and international secretary.

These changes signal a push to revitalize party operations amid current challenges.

The president’s closed meeting with the majority coalition, combined with the Servant of the People party’s leadership update, underscores the Ukrainian government’s drive to consolidate efforts in addressing the nation’s pressing issues. Fostering constructive dialogue within parliament and energizing political structures could prove vital for ensuring stability and advancing Ukraine’s European integration agenda.

As Ukraine seeks to strengthen its international ties, President Zelenskyy's recent closed-door meeting with parliamentary leaders highlights the importance of internal unity. This comes at a time when the nation is actively pursuing closer relations with global partners.
