In 28-year-old Oleksandr Kukovskyi's life, an extraordinary event occurred – he, a monk dreaming of a heroic death in war, was captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It seems that fate played an unusual game with him.
Initially, Oleksandr sought peace in the monastery, but after witnessing the insignificance of church affairs in Russia, he decided to change location. He made a deal with the devil, announcing his intention to commit suicide in a 'heroic' way on Ukrainian territory. However, after being on the front lines, he was overcome by the feeling that death was not his way out. Having experienced the horrors of war, he decided to save his life and escape from the occupiers.
In sorrow and in trouble, fate tests a true hero, and he finds the strength to survive and rise again.
Oleksandr Kukovskyi changed his calling from a monk to a defender of Ukraine, and he was helped in this by Ukrainian soldiers, who not only saved him from death but also restored his faith in human goodness and mercy.
