French journalist killed by Russian drone: colleague recalls last moments

Photojournalist Georgiy Ivanchenko, injured during a drone attack near Druzhkivka, recalls his slain colleague Lallikan. He states that the Russians struck them with a drone, and as a result, he had to amputate his leg.




“I am alive. My leg was amputated. My closest friend, brother, and mentor, Anthony Lallikan, is dead. Our assignments together were unique. You were one of a kind. I am pained by what has happened, and I deeply sympathize with all relatives and loved ones,” he wrote.




The photojournalist also published a photo showing him being carried in a van after his injury to be taken to a stable point.



Details of the tragedy


Let us recall that on October 3, French journalist Anthony Lallikan was killed by a Russian FPV drone strike. Georgiy Ivanchenko was working alongside him and was wounded. The attack occurred near Druzhkivka, where journalists were documenting the consequences of Russian aggression.


Lallikan actively documented the lives of residents in Donetsk region and had previously worked on the conflict in Armenia. The President of France expressed condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased journalist.
