Involvement of new legislative initiatives

According to Главком: Member of Parliament Anna Skorokhod has registered a draft resolution in the Verkhovna Rada that obliges the disclosure of details regarding the investigation of corruption in the energy sector. The draft resolution stipulates that the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) must provide information about the so-called 'Mindy's tapes'. These tapes are associated with the investigation of corruption schemes in the energy sector that have caused significant public resonance.

In addition, a bill has been registered that introduces a new article to the Criminal Code - Article 365-1. This article prescribes punishment for illegal conviction and other actions that restrict the rights of citizens. Skorokhod's initiative aims to protect the rights of human rights defenders and citizens from unlawful actions by law enforcement agencies.

Relevance of the corruption problem

Recall that on December 5, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, and the Security Service of Ukraine uncovered a criminal group led by a female deputy. Members of this group offered a businessman $250,000 for organizing sanctions against a competitor, indicating serious violations in the energy sector. On December 7, 2025, a judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court selected a preventive measure for one of the group members, further emphasizing the relevance of the corruption problem in Ukraine.

Registered legislative initiatives aimed at combating corruption and protecting citizens' rights can become important steps in reforming the legal system of Ukraine. The disclosure of details regarding the investigation of corruption schemes in the energy sector aims to enhance transparency and trust in anti-corruption bodies. These events occur against the backdrop of increasing public attention to the corruption problem, which remains relevant in Ukraine.
