Ukraine's Squad Gears Up for Clash with Denmark

According to Главком: Midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi has finally linked up with the Ukrainian national team in Lviv ahead of their friendly against Denmark, scheduled for June 7 in Odense, Denmark. Head coach Andrea Maldera explained that Malinovskyi faced bureaucratic delays with paperwork, which slowed his arrival to the squad.

Malinovskyi, along with teammates Illia Zabarnyi and Andriy Lunin, missed the friendly match against Poland-a game Ukraine won 2-0. That contest featured two debutants:

  • Oleksandr Romanchuk, who started the match and played the first half;
  • Hennadiy Synchuk, who came off the bench midway through the second half.

Yarmolenko's Milestone Achievement

Meanwhile, Dynamo Kyiv winger Andriy Yarmolenko became the oldest goal scorer in the history of Ukraine's national team after doubling his side's lead in the friendly against Poland. The wide attacker now has 47 goals for Ukraine, though he still trails Ukrainian Association of Football president Andriy Shevchenko, who holds 48. At 36 years and 220 days old, Yarmolenko also set a new mark as the oldest player to find the net while wearing the blue-and-yellow shirt.

Yarmolenko made his national team debut in September 2009 and has since amassed 126 appearances for Ukraine, featuring in four European Championships. The squad is now fully focused on the upcoming meeting with Denmark, aiming for a strong performance.

The match against Denmark represents a crucial step for Ukraine as the team looks to solidify its standing and prepare for upcoming qualifiers. Key players like Yarmolenko and Malinovskyi could prove decisive in securing success in this fixture. Preparation for the Denmark game is also vital for building team cohesion and shaping future strategy.
