Russia attacked Odesa and Kyiv region: G7 announced new sanctions

The occupiers do not stop their provocations, or rather, attacks on the territory of Ukraine. The forces are organizing attacks on Odesa and the Kyiv region, causing significant problems for local residents. In this regard, the G7 countries have decided to take decisive measures and announced an increase in sanctions against Russia.

Attack on Odesa

On the night of October 2, illegal armed formations attacked critical infrastructure in Odesa. Following the strikes on the city's energy facilities, fires broke out in Odesa. Local residents will take a long time to deal with the aftermath of these events.

Hennadiy Trukhanov, the mayor of Odesa, confirmed that the attackers used drones to execute their nefarious plans and caused damage to local energy facilities.

Shooting in the Kyiv region

That same night, the occupiers carried out shelling in the Kyiv region, resulting in injuries to one civilian. The shelling was targeted at the Bucha district, where gunfire caused fires near the railway infrastructure.

Leading officials have already begun assessing the scale of these attacks and their impact on the local population.

Intercepting the flotilla

Additionally, fresh news has emerged about the interception of humanitarian ships by Israel, including the well-known 'Alma' and 'Sirius'. The vessels were detained during the 'March to Gaza' operation, and one of the passengers was Greta Thunberg.

According to activists, all crew members and passengers of the ships were rescued and are under Israel's protection.

Strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation

But that is not all. Finance ministers of the G7 countries agreed on important determination in supporting Ukraine and stopping Russia’s aggressive actions within NATO. The new sanctions will focus on limiting the activities of the Russian economy in key sectors, to increase pressure on the country's leadership.

Thus, the international community is responding to the flare-ups of conflict in Ukraine, establishing joint action plans to deter aggression and ensure security in the region.
