According to НВ — Техно: The U.S. Navy has awarded Boeing a contract to upgrade training simulators for the P-8A Poseidon aircraft. This agreement covers the design, integration, testing, and installation of new simulators, as well as enhancements to existing ones. It also includes updates to both software and hardware, delivery of spare parts, and ongoing technical support. The primary goal is to ensure that training systems accurately reflect real-world combat conditions.

The P-8A Poseidon Aircraft

The P-8A Poseidon serves as the U.S. Navy's primary maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft, built on the Boeing 737-800ERX airframe. Currently, the Navy operates more than 130 of these planes, stationed at bases in Japan, Guam, Hawaii, Iceland, Italy, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

This contract arrives as China expands its naval capabilities, developing new nuclear-powered multi-role submarines and ballistic missile submarines. Meanwhile, Russia continues to enhance its underwater assets and Arctic military infrastructure, particularly nuclear submarines operating in the North Atlantic and Arctic regions. The P-8A Poseidon plays a critical role in monitoring Russian activities in these areas.
