Kyiv Rus Founded Moscow, Not the Other Way Around, Says Budanov
Kyrylo Budanov Speaks at the Unity Forum
According to Главком: At the Unity Forum in Kyiv, organized by the Civil-Military Movement, the Head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov, delivered a speech. He stressed the need for a clear response to questions about Ukraine’s identity, purpose, role, and place in the world. According to him, this is essential to counter enemy attempts to undermine the cohesion of Ukrainian society.
Budanov emphasized that unity is the foundation of the state and the key to its survival during war. He also highlighted the role of history in preserving statehood.
'Without history, there is no future. We cannot live without history, because otherwise we would simply confirm the completely false theses of Russian propaganda that Ukraine does not exist, that it was artificially created by Lenin, and so on,' - Kyrylo Budanov.
The Head of the President's Office also pointed out that 'We must remember that it was Moscow that was founded by Kyiv Rus, to begin with. Why it happened that way is a question for historians. But it is the truth. They came from us, not the other way around.' In this way, Budanov underscored that historical facts are crucial for refuting Russian propaganda, which claims Ukraine was artificially created.
The Importance of Unity and Historical Memory
Budanov's speech once again reinforces his position that Ukraine is the true historical foundation of Rus, while Russia has appropriated part of someone else's heritage. 'It was not Russia that invented the pillars to strike at to destroy unity,' he said, emphasizing that unity and historical memory are critically important for the Ukrainian people in the face of modern challenges.
Kyrylo Budanov's address at the Unity Forum highlights the importance of unity and historical memory for Ukraine amid military threats. By stressing the significance of identity, he calls for the preservation of national consciousness, which is especially relevant in the context of information warfare. These points can help strengthen internal cohesion and counter disinformation originating from external sources. Such a reinforcement of national self-awareness is vital for shaping a resilient and unified stance within Ukrainian society in its struggle for independence.
In addition to emphasizing Ukraine's historical significance, Budanov also discussed the conditions necessary for Ukrainians living abroad to return home.
