Ukrainian Ambassador in Berlin Oleksiy Makeiev reported that the German authorities are considering possible changes in the conditions of stay of Ukrainian refugees on their territory due to the relevance of the migration issue. Conservative political forces are actively discussing this question.

'This concerns possible changes in the procedure for providing social assistance — both in the amount of payments and in their regulation. A modernization of the Bürgergeld system is currently being prepared — support for those who are not working or are in need of assistance,'

explained the diplomat, adding that more than 1 million Ukrainian refugees with temporary protection status live in Germany, actively integrating into society and searching for work. The Ukrainian ambassador also noted that Germany supports programs for retraining and education of displaced persons from Ukraine, as it recognizes Ukraine's need for its citizens to restore the country after the war. The German government is also interested in returning Ukrainian specialists who gained experience in Germany to participate in the restoration of Ukraine.
