Pentagon strengthens requirements for the US military: beards and long hair banned
According to glavcom.ua: The US plans to intensify control over the physical preparation and appearance of servicemen. According to Pentagon chief Pete Gegset, stricter, gender-neutral standards will be introduced. This information is reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Washington Times.
The new requirements entail physical fitness tests twice a year, as well as monitoring the height and weight of servicemen. Pete Gegset emphasized that this will not be about yoga or stretching, but about a serious attitude towards physical preparation.
According to Gegset, he is tired of looking at overweight soldiers during formations. 'It is also absolutely unacceptable to see overweight generals and admirals in the corridors of the Pentagon. This looks unattractive,' the minister noted.
The new rules also include a ban on beards and long hair for male servicemen (except for special forces). Pete Gegset pointed out that these restrictions may affect the female personnel of the army, but this is an acceptable loss. The main mission of the Pentagon in the future will be exclusively conducting combat operations.
The US government will start adhering to stricter standards of physical preparation for servicemen, introducing physical fitness tests, as well as monitoring the appearance of servicemen. New rules also include a ban on beards and long hair for male servicemen to enhance the combat readiness of the army.
