Biathlon World Champion Julia Simon Sentenced for Credit Card Theft

World Biathlon Champion Julia Simon was sentenced to a suspended term and a fine of 15,000 euros for credit card theft. The court found the athlete guilty on all counts, as reported by Le Dauphine Libere.

At the court hearing in France, the biathlete admitted to the thefts and explained her actions as a result of panic. She must also reimburse the court costs to the victim and pay compensation to the French Ski Federation.

In other sports news, the Council of the International Ski Federation decided not to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in Olympic qualifying events. The decision was made during the FIS Council meeting in connection with the situation surrounding the participation of athletes from these countries in competitions.
