Due to the destruction of energy infrastructure, some regions remain without hourly disconnection schedules
The situation with energy supply in Ukraine
According to ХВИЛЯ: Due to the destruction of the energy infrastructure, some regions of Ukraine remain unable to return to hourly disconnection schedules. Deputy Minister of Energy Olga Yukhimchuk reported this problem, which concerns the left bank of Kyiv, Kyiv region, and Odesa. Energy facilities in these regions have repeatedly undergone enemy strikes, complicating the situation with electricity supply.
December attacks affected generation facilities and transmission and distribution networks, resulting in damaged equipment that cannot transmit enough electricity to meet the hourly schedules. Distribution system operators are forced to implement emergency disconnections to avoid network overload.
Olga Yukhimchuk noted that each restoration requires significant time and resources, as the level of damage in the regions varies.
She also emphasized that all destroyed and damaged energy facilities will be restored. The situation in the energy sector remains complex; however, efforts for restoration continue.
Challenges in the energy sector
Problems with energy supply that arose as a result of attacks on energy facilities highlight the vulnerability of critical infrastructure in the context of armed conflict. Restoring electricity supply in these regions is not only a technical challenge but also a social one, as it affects the well-being of the population.
The state's efforts are focused on restoring the energy infrastructure, which is an important step in ensuring stability and security in the country.
