Should Ukrainians in Poland save money in zlotys

Should save money in zlotys
Чи варто українцям у Польщі накопичувати у злотих?

Ukrainians living or working in Poland are increasingly wondering whether it is profitable to save money in zlotys. Polish financial analysts predict instability in the currency market, which may affect the real value of saved funds. This was reported by the publication In Poland .

Forecasts for the zloty in 2026

According to the analytical portal Ekantor.pl, in the second quarter of 2026, the exchange rate of the dollar may decrease to 3.44 zlotys, indicating a possible strengthening of the Polish currency in the short term. At the same time, experts from Bankier.pl predict that the exchange rate of the euro to the zloty (EUR/PLN) will remain within 4.25–4.50 zlotys.

Such divergent dynamics mean that amid overall economic uncertainty, keeping large sums in zlotys may be risky, especially if there are plans for money transfers to Ukraine or exchange for another currency. Exchange rate fluctuations can reduce the purchasing power of savings during conversion.

When it is still worth holding zlotys

Financial analysts advise focusing on personal needs. If the main expenses—rent, utilities, purchases—are made in Poland, then it is reasonable to keep part of the funds in zlotys for everyday expenses. However, for long-term savings, it is worth considering diversification.

Recommendations for Ukrainians in Poland:

  • do not keep all savings only in zlotys;
  • distribute funds among several currencies—e.g., euros, dollars, and zlotys;
  • part of the funds can be invested in reliable instruments—deposits, bonds, funds;
  • before making decisions, it is advisable to consult a financial advisor or currency operator.

Experts emphasize that the main thing is not to chase short-term profit, but to build a financial strategy taking into account the risks of the currency market.
