Apple prices hit record highs: how much is a kilogram of the new harvest this summer

According to hvylya.net: In Ukraine, the collection of the new apple harvest has begun, and the purchase price is 60-70 hryvnias per kilogram. This is almost three times higher than the prices at the beginning of the previous season. Ukrainian farmers started harvesting early varieties of apples around the same time as last year. Analysts note that the season effectively started this week.

'According to key market players, the start of the local apple supply season has immediately negatively affected the sales of imported fruits, however, Ukrainian traders are in no hurry to lower prices on their products,' it is stated in the message.

High prices are explained by the fact that imported apples still dominate the Ukrainian market. The demand for them remains small, as consumers prefer seasonal fruits and berries. According to EastFruit, Ukrainian producers plan to more actively enter the market starting next week. Orchardists predict that as the supply of domestic apples increases, prices will start to decrease, which may also affect the cheaper imported fruits.

Ukrainian farmers are pleased with the start of the new apple harvesting season, but an increase in the production of domestic fruits could also benefit consumers in the market, which will positively affect the prices of imported apples.
