Fuel prices at gas stations jumped sharply on March 3, 2026
Ukrainian gas stations sharply raised fuel prices on March 3. Within a day, the price of gasoline and diesel increased by about 2 UAH per liter, and at popular gas stations prices have already approached 72 UAH. This is reported by RBK-Ukraine.
Experts associate the rise in prices with the tension in the global oil market due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East. This region is one of the key centers of oil production, so any risks to supplies immediately affect prices in Europe and Ukraine.

Why fuel has become more expensive in Ukraine
Director of the consulting group “A-95” Sergey Kuyun explained that the increase was a response to geopolitical events.
«This is the largest center of oil and gas production. European oil product processors depend on it. All markets are on edge, as there is a risk of destabilizing supplies,» the expert explained.
According to him, Ukrainian gas station networks raised prices preventively to hedge against possible rises in oil prices. In addition, the market has effectively suspended wholesale fuel sales due to uncertainty with future supplies.
Currently, global oil prices are around 80 dollars per barrel. At the same time, the price has already started to gradually decline.
The expert believes that the current level may be peak.
«This morning prices rose by 2 hryvnias in most networks. I think this is a defensive reaction. The price will not go up further; we will observe a downward movement,» Kuyun noted.
According to his forecast, after the military operation in Iran, the price of oil may drop to below 60 dollars per barrel, which could potentially lead to a decrease in fuel prices at Ukrainian gas stations.
