Ukraine's Parliament Gains a New Member: Serhiy Karabuta to Fill Vacant Seat

According to Главком: The Central Election Commission of Ukraine has officially registered Serhiy Karabuta as a People's Deputy. He will assume the parliamentary seat left vacant by the passing of Oleksandr Kabanov on January 14. Karabuta's mandate will become active once he takes the oath of office in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament.
Serhiy Karabuta was originally registered as a candidate on July 21, 2019, in the nationwide multi-mandate constituency for the 'Servant of the People' political party. He was number 156 on the party's electoral list. Prior to entering politics, Karabuta had a background in business, co-founding and serving as director of the travel firm 'Tropikana Travel' LLC in 2006. He also managed the Kyiv branch of the company 'Mandry Company' LLC.
Personal Background
Serhiy Karabuta was born on January 3, 1983, in Kyiv. In 2006, he graduated from the Institute of Tourism of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine with a degree in management and also from the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management. In the 2019 parliamentary election, he ran as a non-partisan candidate on the 'Servant of the People' party list for the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation. The Central Election Commission had previously recognized him as an elected deputy.
This replacement ensures the continued full representation of voters in the legislature. The process of filling vacant seats is a standard parliamentary procedure to maintain the assembly's operational capacity. With his business and management experience, Karabuta will now have the opportunity to contribute to Ukraine's legislative agenda following his formal swearing-in ceremony.
