The incident occurred near Fnideq when a powerful current swept the young man away from his group. The diver was rescued by the crew of a merchant ship heading to Portugal.

Treatment and stable condition

The diver, lifted from the water by a helicopter, was taken to a hospital where severe dehydration and hypothermia were diagnosed. Despite his serious condition, doctors managed to save the young man's life, and the next day it became known that he was stable. After discharge, he plans to return to Morocco.
