Ruslan Malinovskyi Set for Trabzonspor Move

According to Главком: Genoa head coach Daniele De Rossi has confirmed that Ukrainian midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi will leave the club at the end of the current season. Turkish side Trabzonspor has already offered the player a three-year contract and is now awaiting his decision. The 31-year-old joined Genoa ahead of the 2023/24 campaign and quickly established himself as a key figure in the squad.

This season, Malinovskyi has made 34 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing three assists. De Rossi noted that the team plans to give the Ukrainian a proper farewell in front of the fans, while also allowing playing time for those who have featured less frequently:

“Why do we need the last two Serie A matches? You have to prepare for games and find the right, healthy motivation.” - Daniele De Rossi

Ukrainian Players in the Spotlight

Two other Ukrainians-Arseniy Batahov and Oleksandr Zubkov-already play for Trabzonspor, which could help ease Malinovskyi's transition. Other notable Ukrainian footballers who have recently made significant moves include:

  • Danylo Sikan, who transferred from Trabzonspor to Belgian club Anderlecht during the winter window.
  • Mykhailo Mudryk, who received a multi-year ban for doping violations.

Mudryk's suspension was handed down by the English Football Association, and he has since appealed the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Malinovskyi's potential transfer to Trabzonspor marks an important chapter in his career, offering fresh opportunities at a competitive European club. With fellow Ukrainians already on the roster, his adaptation could be smoother. The broader context of Ukrainian players moving abroad also highlights how their transfers and performances shape the international reputation of Ukrainian football.

As Malinovskyi prepares for his move to Trabzonspor, the situation of other Ukrainian players in the Turkish league also draws attention. Recently, Zubkov's decision to leave Trabzonspor due to personal issues highlights the challenges that players may face while adapting to new environments. Understanding these dynamics can provide deeper insights into Malinovskyi's upcoming transition.
