Deezer Unveils New AI Detection Service

According to НВ — Техно: On June 12, 2026, Deezer announced the launch of a new service designed to identify music generated by artificial intelligence across multiple streaming platforms. This cutting-edge tool supports 27 languages and works with 20 popular streaming services, making it widely accessible. Deezer CEO Alexis Lantigné noted that

“many music platforms still lack their own AI music detection tools”

, which drove the need to develop this technology. The move comes as the music industry grapples with the rapid rise of AI-generated content and its implications for copyright and fairness.

Trends and Challenges in the AI Music Landscape

Deezer has been tagging AI-created tracks for over a year and a half. According to the company, 44% of all new music uploaded to the platform is produced using AI. Nearly 75,000 AI-generated tracks are added to Deezer each day, with the monthly figure exceeding two million. Despite this surge in volume, AI tracks account for only 1% to 3% of total streams. Furthermore, about 85% of plays of AI-generated music are flagged by the platform as fraudulent and are not monetized.

The launch of this new service comes amid growing concerns over the use of copyrighted material to train AI models, as well as fears of potential manipulation of streaming systems that could lead to fraud. Unlike some competitors that merely label AI-created content, Deezer removes such tracks from its recommendations and excludes them from editorial playlists. The company has also begun offering its AI detection technology to other platforms and is considering further actions regarding this type of content, including:

  • updating supplier policies
  • removing AI-generated content

Alexis Lantigné stated that the company decided to

“give all users the ability to check their playlists for synthetic music, regardless of which platform they use”

. This reflects Deezer’s commitment to transparency and content control, which could have a broad impact on the music industry.

Deezer’s new service highlights the importance of music platforms adapting to the rapidly growing role of artificial intelligence in music creation. It also demonstrates the company’s efforts to address copyright issues and fraud within the industry. As AI-generated music becomes more popular, it is crucial for platforms to ensure transparency, build consumer trust, and maintain fair conditions for all market participants. Such steps may encourage other companies to adopt similar technologies and policies.

As the landscape of AI-generated music evolves, other major platforms are also adapting to these changes. For instance, Spotify recently introduced a tool for creating cover songs and remixes in collaboration with UMG, showcasing the industry's shift towards embracing AI technology while addressing copyright concerns. This highlights the competitive nature of the streaming market as companies strive to innovate and protect their content.
