Inclusive Workplace Program Grows

According to Главком: Ukraine's leading energy company, DTEK, has now extended its program for creating inclusive workplaces for veterans with disabilities to 24 of its enterprises. The company has systematically supported mobilized employees and veterans since the onset of the full-scale invasion. In 2025, DTEK launched Ukraine's first pilot project to establish an inclusive work environment on the surface of one of its mines.

Project Components

The initiative involves a comprehensive environmental audit, adaptation of surface infrastructure, the launch of job postings with automated role-matching, and the customization of workstations. The project's key elements include:

  • A comprehensive accessibility audit of the environment for people with disabilities,
  • Adaptation of above-ground infrastructure,
  • Launching job vacancies with automated role-matching based on individual capabilities,
  • Customizing workplaces to meet the specific needs of employees.

DTEK is developing inclusive infrastructure, expanding the range of accessible professions, and implementing new solutions for veteran employment. As company representatives noted,

"This is precisely how the project to create an inclusive environment and workplaces at DTEK's industrial enterprises came about. Its goal is to establish conditions under which veterans with disabilities can work fully at the company's facilities-even in challenging industrial settings like mines, thermal power plants, or substations."

DTEK, owned by Rinat Akhmetov, has been recognized as having the best veteran support program in Ukraine, underscoring the importance and effectiveness of its initiatives in this area. This expansion reflects a significant corporate commitment to social responsibility during a time of national crisis.

Extending the inclusive workplace program to 24 sites demonstrates DTEK's growing focus on social responsibility and veteran support, particularly in wartime conditions. This initiative not only helps veterans with disabilities find employment but also promotes greater overall inclusivity in Ukraine's labor market. In the face of ongoing conflict, such projects are vital for the rehabilitation and societal reintegration of those who have served.

As DTEK continues to enhance its commitment to veterans, it's worth noting that similar efforts are being highlighted in the UN Global Compact's documentary series, which showcases the importance of veteran reintegration in Ukraine. This alignment in initiatives reflects a broader trend of corporate responsibility towards supporting those who have served, particularly in challenging times.
