Traffic Accident on Kyiv–Kharkiv Highway: Two Dead and 16 Injured in Chain Collision
Massive Traffic Accident in Kyiv Region
According to Главком: A large-scale traffic incident occurred in the Kyiv region on December 28 on the Kyiv–Kharkiv highway, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to 16 others. The accident happened near the village of Ivankiv, where cars including a Dodge, Volkswagen, and BMW collided in a chain reaction.
As a result of the collision, two passengers were killed: a 48-year-old driver of the Dodge and a 49-year-old female passenger. According to preliminary data, a 55-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz bus veered into oncoming traffic, which caused the accident. As a result of the incident, 16 people sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity.
The bus driver has been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. An investigation has currently been initiated under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Additional Traffic Incidents
Additionally, in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital, another accident occurred, resulting in the death of one woman and injuries to two children. The investigation is ongoing.
Traffic incidents on Ukrainian roads remain a serious problem that requires attention from law enforcement and society. Given the number of casualties in this accident and other unfortunate events, it is crucial to raise drivers’ awareness about road safety and compliance with traffic regulations.
The situation with traffic accidents in Ukraine indicates the need for the implementation of more effective measures to enforce traffic rules to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
