According to glavcom.ua: Nicolas Sarkozy will become the first former president of France to end up behind bars. The ex-president will be imprisoned on Tuesday, October 21, at the Santé prison in Paris, which has a 'vulnerable wing' designated for vulnerable individuals to ensure their safety. This decision was made by the Paris criminal court on September 25, after finding Sarkozy guilty of collusion in financing his 2007 election campaign through appeals to Libya's Muammar Gaddafi.

Additionally, Nicolas Sarkozy completed an individual prisoner questionnaire, which every convicted person must fill out while in prison. After arriving at the Santé prison, the former president's lawyers will be able to file a motion for his release to the appellate court. The consideration of such a motion may take up to two months.
