According to glavcom.ua: Lieutenant General Igor Romanenko warned that Russia may begin a new phase of offensive at the end of July. He cautioned that Ukraine must be prepared for an increase in aggression. According to Romanenko, the Russian armed forces have maintained the initiative and are gradually capturing Ukrainian territories since the end of 2023.

“The Russians have indeed accumulated reserves of personnel. They are preparing 160 thousand divisions,” emphasized the lieutenant general.

Romanenko also noted that Russia is deliberately limiting the use of armored vehicles, possibly with the aim of mass deployment in the future. Key is the personnel training of the Russian troops, as recruits are being accepted into the army while experienced soldiers are forced to sign contracts. According to Romanenko, Russia may transition to a new phase of the offensive campaign by the end of summer or fall, so Ukraine should strengthen its readiness.

Ukraine's readiness for aggression

In Romanenko's opinion, Ukraine needs to enhance its readiness through mobilization and staffing of brigades, collaboration with allies regarding weapons and technology, as well as making strategically important decisions in military economics and legislation.
