Ukrainian Who Survived the Holocaust Died in a Terrorist Attack in Sydney: The Story of Alexander Kleytman

During the attack, he rose to shield his wife, for which he paid with his own life. In his childhood, he and his family endured the horrific events of the Holocaust and found themselves in difficult conditions in Siberia.

After the tragedy, the Ukrainian couple immigrated to Australia, where they became part of the Jewish community. The tragic event at Bondi Beach led to the deaths of at least 16 people, including a child. The suspects in the attack are father and son, Sajid and Nawid Akram. An unexpected hero turned out to be the owner of the fruit shop, Ahmed Al-Ahmed, who managed to disarm the terrorist by taking the weapon from him.
