Von der Leyen emphasized that the funding is aimed at meeting the basic needs of Ukrainian schoolchildren who have been affected by the war.

In addition, the EU, in collaboration with UNICEF, is allocating over 10 million euros for psychological and educational support for children who have returned from captivity or occupied territories. This funding will help children recover, continue their education, and return to normal life.

EU support for Ukraine also covers other areas. In particular, the EU finances the work of the Ukrainian prosecution to investigate war crimes and restore justice for the families of victims.

The EU has also imposed sanctions against more than 50 individuals involved in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.

According to her, currently, over 1.5 million Ukrainian children are in occupied territories, where they are subjected to forced Russification.
