For several years, more than 4.3 million citizens of Ukraine have been benefiting from temporary protection in EU countries. Against this backdrop, the EU Council has finally decided to extend this protection for Ukrainian refugees until 2027. The main argument is that Russia's war against Ukraine continues, and the situation remains complex and dangerous. This measure will allow Ukrainians to live, work, and study in the EU without losing access to social services. Additionally, there will be enhanced control over the possibility of refugees simultaneously holding multiple statuses in different countries. Thus, access to opportunities in Europe for Ukrainians has been extended and restricted in one package.
