EU Commits €10 Million to Deploy Mobile Shelters Across Six Frontline Ukrainian Regions

Mobile Shelter Project Details

Deputy Minister Artem Husak unveiled plans to install 840 mobile shelters along school routes in six frontline regions. These targeted areas are:

• Dnipropetrovsk
• Zaporizhzhia
• Sumy
• Kharkiv
• Kherson
• Chernihiv

Husak emphasized the critical need to protect children not only while at school but also during their daily commutes. Ukrainian donor regions have already contributed to the project, yet Husak stressed that additional international funding is essential to fully meet the demand.

“We have presented partners with a detailed plan outlining the specific needs of each of the six regions and a targeted allocation of funds,” said Artem Husak.

The Shelter Coalition for Civil Protection in Ukraine was established in May 2025 following a joint declaration by the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Finland. Since then, the initiative has gained support from the European Union, Lithuania, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the European Investment Bank. The coalition’s main goal is to attract international funding to modernize existing shelters and build new protective structures to safeguard the population.
