FDA approves revolutionary drops for presbyopia: vision to improve for 10 hours

New drops for perfect vision
FDA схвалила інноваційний засіб для покращення зору: дія триватиме до 10 годин

The first eye drops for combating presbyopia have been approved in the USA, which can temporarily improve vision for older people. This drug, known as VIZZ, developed by LENZ Therapeutics, provides an effect lasting up to 10 hours, enhancing visual quality without the use of glasses.

VIZZ eye drops are intended for daily use, once a day, easing the focus on close objects through slight pupil constriction, creating a 'pinhole effect'.

LENZ Therapeutics CEO Efa Schimmelpenninck calls this a 'revolutionary improvement in available treatments' for millions of Americans with presbyopia. Mark Blumenstein, a clinical researcher, believes this option could become the standard treatment for a large number of patients.

Presbyopia is an age-related vision impairment that typically occurs after the age of 45 due to the loss of flexibility of the eye's lens. This impairment complicates reading and performing various tasks at close range.

The first eye drops for presbyopia, developed by LENZ Therapeutics and approved by the FDA, open new perspectives in the treatment of this age-related vision impairment, allowing more than 128 million Americans to improve their visual quality.
