Two schemes for selling deferments from mobilization revealed in Kyiv: for $4000 and $7000
According to Прокуратура Київ: Two schemes have been uncovered in Kyiv that allowed individuals to avoid mobilization by paying bribes.
Fake operation
According to information from the Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv, the head of one of the district departments of the 'Probation Center' and his accomplice were charged with corruption. This concerns conscripts who attempted to obtain a deferment from service.
Details of the scheme
Colleagues' testimonies indicated that the department head promised assistance for $4000. Before the conscript's visit to the territorial commission, a fake operation on their spine was to be arranged in a hospital, which was supposed to provide a temporary deferment. His accomplice negotiated with doctors regarding the procedure. Another conscript was promised a deferment by presenting documents about caring for a mother who was actually abroad. This service cost $7000.

Such actions are considered an abuse of power under Ukrainian law. Participants in the scheme may face legal accountability.
