Warranty repair of equipment in Ukraine: how to legally obtain free repair
According to hvylya.net: The State Consumer Service informed Ukrainians about how to obtain free repair, exchange or reimbursement of equipment costs during the warranty period. According to the Consumer Protection Law, manufacturers or stores must repair the product at their own expense if problems arise.
When the equipment breaks during the warranty, the manufacturer or store must repair it at their own expense. The time the product spends in service is added to the warranty period. You can apply for repair to the seller, manufacturer, or authorized service at your place of residence.
To perform warranty maintenance, you need to have the receipt, warranty card, and undamaged manufacturer's seals. Diagnosis must be performed free of charge, and refusal to repair can only occur in case of violation of operating rules.
- Check the documents and the condition of the product
- Submit a written request for repair
- Receive a document with the deadlines for work completion
- In case of delays, remind about legal deadlines and demand compensation
- In case of refusal for free diagnosis, refer to the law
- In disputed situations, contact regulatory authorities or court
The Problem of Limited Access to Repair
In many countries, manufacturers complicate the possibility of repair by not providing access to spare parts and tools, which is accompanied by an increase in electronic waste. The European Union and other countries are adopting special laws to ensure the availability of repair, which helps the economy, ecology, and service sector.
Ukrainians are provided with the opportunity to obtain warranty repair of equipment from the manufacturer or store, provided that the necessary documents are kept and legislation is followed, as well as to demand compensation in case of the manufacturer's violation of consumer rights.
