UN Secretary-General condemned Russia's attacks on Ukraine

According to glavcom.ua: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the wave of attacks by Russia on Ukraine and warned that these strikes have once again threatened nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. This is reported by 'Glaicom', citing a statement from UN Secretary-General spokesman Stephane Dujarric.

Guterres expressed concern over the dangerous escalation and the rising number of civilian casualties. He emphasized that attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure are prohibited under international law, and called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.

“These strikes have led to disruptions in the power supply of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which again highlights the ongoing risks to nuclear safety,” said UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric.

The Secretary-General emphasized the importance of an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and noted the need to adhere to the UN Charter, international law, and UN resolutions to achieve peace.

It should be noted that on the evening of July 4, Russian troops attacked a power line connecting the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP with the unified energy system of Ukraine, causing a blackout at the station. However, thanks to the rapid response of 'Ukrenergo' specialists, power supply was restored.

The UN Secretary-General called for an immediate ceasefire and adherence to international law to ensure peace and safety in Ukraine as nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is at risk.
