He was killed in action on November 2, 2022, in the village of Torske, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region, while carrying out a combat mission. Chaika served as a senior lieutenant in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and commanded a separate reconnaissance platoon. In 2023, he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine, the nation's highest honor.
