Ukrainian Taras Filiak Sets Historic Record in Chile: Details of Success

Taras Filiak won silver and bronze at the South American Cup in speed disciplines held in Chile. The Ukrainian skier stood on the podium twice in the downhill event.

The achievement of record FIS points 19.76 and 25.93 was historic, being the absolute best performance in the international ranking among Ukrainian skiers in the entire history of Ukrainian alpine skiing.

Thanks to these results, Taras fulfilled the standard of Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class. Ukraine ranked 10th in the overall medal standings of the European Youth Olympic Festival, winning 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals. Ukraine demonstrated the second most successful performance in the entire history of participation in the Festivals, and this is an inspiring result for the sports country. This year, the World Summer Universiade also took place in Germany, where the Ukrainian team won 12 medals, including 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze.
