The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kirill, spoke about the 'divine miracle' – Stalin and Putin
According to glavcom.ua: Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church called dictators Stalin and Putin a 'divine miracle' in a sermon. He believes that the year 1943 marked the beginning of an 'absolutely new era of Orthodoxy.'
«Various legends circulate about Stalin himself, I cannot comment on whether it was true or not, but the fact is that in 1943, Joseph Vissarionovich invited Patriarchal Locum Tenens Sergius and the permanent members of the Holy Synod for a conversation and began with a Russian proverb: «Lords! (precisely so, not by name or patronymic) Whoever remembers the old, let them lose their eye.» And indeed, a completely new era of Orthodoxy began in the Soviet state. And what can we say about what was? We can say nothing except one thing: a divine miracle! Destroyed churches, monasteries, priests and monks imprisoned and sent to camps – it seemed everything was destroyed, but everything was immediately restored!» - noted Kirill.
The Russian Orthodox Church was actually created by Stalin and was controlled by the Soviet authorities. The Church became part of the state mechanism, performing the tasks of the Soviet power. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian Orthodox Church continued to maintain close relations with the Russian authorities, which is reflected in its propaganda and support.
The patriarch also expressed support for the impoverished Russian dictator Putin, calling him a 'sincerely believing' and 'church' leader.
