Buckwheat Prices Rise Sharply: Experts Announce New Prices in Stores

According to hvylya.net: Ukrainians have been warned about a sudden increase in prices for their favorite buckwheat. Over the past six weeks, prices for this grain have jumped by 10-15%. Experts note that the end of the price rise is currently not in sight.

Problem of Ending Stocks and Rising Purchase Prices

The price increase is related to the depletion of last year's harvest stocks and a sharp rise in purchase prices for fresh grain. This has led to a rise in raw material prices by as much as 40%.

Serhiy Hromovyi: 'Many people receive minimum wage, while food prices are approaching European levels. This is a real tragedy.'

At the moment, buckwheat costs between 37 and 38 hryvnias per kilogram, but in the near future, the price may rise to 40-42 hryvnias per kilogram.

Impact of Weather on the Situation

Constant autumn rains have complicated the harvesting process. Additional drying is needed to bring the grain to the required state, leading to increased costs due to problems with energy supply.

Import Risks and Price Forecasts

Experts do not believe that the price of buckwheat can exceed the mark of 50 hryvnias. Importers may restrain further price rises, but much depends on the security and logistics situation in the country.
