Bread prices will rise by 25%: experts named the reasons and forecast until the end of 2025
Price Increase for Bread in Ukraine
Head scientific researcher of the Institute of Agrarian Economics Svitlana Cheremysina explained why Ukrainian consumers are facing constant rising prices for bread and what the price dynamics will be until the end of 2025, as reported by 'Khylya'.
According to statistical data, bread prices in Ukraine have significantly increased this year: premium white bread — by 13%, first-grade — by 9%, and black bread — by 6.4%. During the year, the price increase was 20-23%.
Reasons for Price Increase
- Energy costs, heating of production facilities
- Transportation and maintenance of equipment
- Fluctuation of exchange rates and overall increase in food prices
- Increase in wages of production workers
Denys Marchuk from the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council notes: 'The increase in bread prices is not due to the quality of the harvest, but due to other factors such as energy resources, transportation costs, labor payment, and inflationary processes.'
Raw Material Situation
Ukrainian experts have a positive forecast regarding wheat harvest, which will meet the country's needs. However, the situation with rye is more complicated, informs the Institute of Agrarian Economics. If rye runs out, it will have to be procured from abroad, which will lead to an increase in product costs.
Price Forecast
- Premium white bread will rise by 8.5%
- First-grade wheat bread will increase by 7%
- Rye bread will rise by 5.5%
- The price of a baton will increase by 5%
Conclusion
Despite the increase in bread prices, experts conclude: 'Price increases are necessary, but there will be no catastrophe. The real price increase by the end of 2025 will not exceed 15%.'
Ukrainian consumers are facing constant rising prices for bread due to various factors such as energy resources, transportation costs, labor payment, and others. The price dynamics until the end of 2025 may lead to an increase in food product costs, but experts forecast that prices will not exceed 15%.
