Verona theater canceled the performance of singer Abdrazakov due to support for the war
According to glavcom.ua: The Italian Teatro Filarmonico in Verona canceled the performance of opera singer Ildar Abdrazakov due to his open support for the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. This information was confirmed by the Vice President of the European Parliament, Pina Picierno, on social media.
The singer's performance in the opera 'Don Giovanni' was supposed to take place in January 2026, but after his statements regarding the conflict in Ukraine and participation in political campaigns in Russia, the concert was canceled. 'We have once again defeated Putin's and the Kremlin's propaganda. Abdrazakov will not perform at the Arena in Verona,' Picierno wrote.
Such cancellations of concerts have also become more frequent - in Romania, the performance of Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko was canceled due to her support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The performance of a Russian-speaking rap artist in Kyiv was also banned, reported Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
