Ukrainian Olga Ivzhenko – Absolute Champion of Europe in Weightlifting U-23
According to glavcom.ua: Ukrainian Olga Ivzhenko impressed the world with her achievements in weightlifting among youth (U-23), becoming the absolute champion of Europe in the weight category up to 58 kg. With a result of 95 kg in the snatch and 115 kg in the clean and jerk, she won gold medals, totaling a score of 210 kg and pulling away by 21 kg from her nearest competitor.
As part of the European Youth Olympic Festival, Ukraine made it to the top 10 of the overall medal standings, thanks to 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals. This is one of the best performances of the Ukrainian team in the history of the Festival, following the record year of 2019, when there were 25 awards.
The most medals were brought to Ukrainian athletes by judo – 6 awards, including bronze in the mixed team tournament on the last day of competition.
At the end of the Summer Universiade in Germany, the Ukrainian team added another bronze medal to its account – the victory in the 20-kilometer race walk was won by Mykola Rushchak from Sumy. Ukraine ranked 14th in the overall medal standings, winning a total of 12 awards: 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze.
The Ukrainian national team confirmed its position among the leading sports nations, showing impressive results in international competitions in heavy sports.
