Kenyan athlete in captivity of the Armed Forces: how he was tricked into enlisting by Russia
According to glavcom.ua: In the zone of responsibility of the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Kostya Hordiienko in the Vovchansk direction, Ukrainian defenders captured a citizen of Kenya. This was reported by the press service of the brigade, as informed by 'Glavcom'.
The captive's name is Evans, and he is an athlete from Kenya.
The captive became a Russian soldier
'His sports agent offered him and three other Kenyans a tourist trip to St. Petersburg, financed by the Russian Federation. At the end of the trip, the person accompanying the group suggested that the foreigners stay in Russia and get jobs. By signing documents written in Russian, unknowingly, as the captive claims, he became a Russian soldier,' the 57th brigade reported.
Upon arriving at the military camp and realizing that he was supposed to be a soldier, Evans tried to refuse the proposed work, but he was told that he had already signed a contract and that nothing could be changed. However, if he refused to perform tasks, he would be shot.
The captive said that the training lasted a week, during which he was shown how to handle a machine gun.
The Kenyan's escape from Russian soldiers
'His commanders and instructors did not know English, so they usually pulled him by the arms or pushed him to make him do what they wanted. However, there were also a few foreigners in his unit,' the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Kostya Hordiienko added.
The Kenyan escaped from the Russians on his way to his first combat mission in northern Kharkiv region.
'For two days, he wandered through the forests near Vovchansk in search of Ukrainian soldiers to surrender himself. The man asks not to exchange him for Russia: he is convinced that death is waiting for him there,' the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Kostya Hordiienko reported.
The report of the capture of a citizen of Kenya at the front opens up a strange story of how a Kenyan athlete became a captive Russian soldier and how he tried to escape while seeking Ukrainian defenders. Recently, the Kenyan was successfully freed and provided with assistance.
