Kyiv in a state of emergency: thousands of homes without heating after a massive attack

According to Главком: The municipal services of Kyiv are operating in emergency mode after a massive attack on critical infrastructure, as a result of which thousands of homes have been left without heating, and there are interruptions in water supply and electricity in the city. On the night of January 9, Kyiv was subjected to a massive combined shelling, during which the enemy fired 36 missiles and nearly 250 drones at the capital.

The situation with heating is significantly complicated, as nearly 6,000 apartment buildings have been left without heat. Relevant services are working on restoring heating, and according to the mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko,

“we hope to provide heat to some homes already this evening”

.

Water supply and electricity have also experienced interruptions, complicating life for citizens in cold weather. The city authorities are taking measures to improve the situation, but restoring services requires time and effort.

Heating Points and Recommendations

In response to the emergency situation in Kyiv, more than 1,200 heating points have been prepared. This year, nearly 200 new heating and charging points are operational, located in shopping centers, providing residents of the capital with the opportunity to find temporary shelter from the cold. The city authorities urge residents to take advantage of these points if necessary.

This situation highlights the vulnerability of Kyiv's critical infrastructure during armed conflicts and the need for preparedness for emergencies. The city authorities are actively working on restoring services, which is an important step for ensuring the safety and comfort of residents during the winter period. Residents are advised to exercise caution and use the provided heating points to prevent hypothermia. Such measures are important for maintaining stability in crisis situations.
