Kyiv Lions won bronze at the international wheelchair basketball tournament

In the Lithuanian city of Druskininkai, an international wheelchair basketball tournament was held on October 18-19, organized by the Lithuanian Sports Federation. This was reported by 'Glavcom', citing the FBU.

The Ukrainian team 'Kyiv Lions' represented Ukraine at the competition and finished in third place.

The victory was claimed by the RSK Kaunas team, which includes players from the Lithuanian national team. The second place went to the representatives of Poland - Bialystok Start.

Ukrainian basketball players lost to the future tournament winners in the first match 48:72.

In the match against the Polish club, the Kyiv Lions lost by only two points 42:44, and in the game against the second team from Kaunas, they won in overtime 45:44.

Comment from the director of the 'Kyiv Lions' team

The director and player of the Kyiv Lions, Yevhen Dmytrenko, commented on the team's result:

'The tournament in Druskininkai has become regular, and we are traditionally received very well, for which we are very grateful to the organizers. This time we fielded one of the strongest lineups in recent years - with both experienced players and military personnel. The level of the opponents was high, but we showed a decent game. We lost to the Poles by only one offensive play, and we defeated the second Lithuanian team in overtime. At the same time, we played virtually without substitutions - only seven players on the roster.'

The Ukrainian men's national team on the path to WC-2027

As reported by 'Glavcom', the national men's team of Ukraine won the pre-qualification for the World Championship-2027 from the top place in the group, advancing to the main qualifying round of the world championship.

In the last round of pre-qualification, Ainars Bagatskis' team defeated Slovakia away 98:86.
