Chinese Cars Conquer the Ukrainian Market: The Most Popular Electric Vehicles Named

According to hvylya.net: During this period, electric vehicles from China accounted for more than 80% of all registrations, which is ten times more popular than gasoline cars. The demand for hybrids remained small, while diesel cars became the exception.

In the first six months of 2025, Ukrainians bought more than 6.3 thousand Chinese cars, with the most sold in June – almost one and a half thousand, most of which were new, according to the data from the Institute for Market Research.

Among the most popular brands from China were BYD, Zeekr, and Honda, as well as Audi, Volkswagen, MG, Chery, Changan, Denza, and Haval. The best-selling crossover was the BYD Song Plus, which became a symbol of the growing popularity of Chinese cars worldwide due to modern technologies, electric drive, and attractive pricing.

In the first six months of 2025, the share of new Chinese cars in the overall structure of registrations in Ukraine was 1.2%. This indicates a rapid growth of electric cars, which are gradually displacing traditional types of engines.

The popularity of used Chinese cars also increased, where over 85% of registered vehicles were electric. Gasoline cars made up 11%, hybrids – 4%, while diesel vehicles were almost nonexistent. Leaders in this segment included Zeekr, BYD, Tesla, Audi, Volvo, MG, Polestar, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and Buick.

The demand for Chinese cars in Ukraine is rapidly growing, especially when it comes to electric vehicles. BYD, Zeekr, and Honda are very popular among Ukrainian car buyers, and the BYD Song Plus is at the top of the sales list. This reflects the overall trend of electrification in the automotive market and the increasing interest of Ukrainian drivers in Chinese manufacturers.
