Injectable weight loss drugs have become a real trend in recent years, but their mass use without medical supervision poses serious health risks. Doctor Yevhen Komarovsky stated this in an interview on the YouTube channel "Visiting Gordon".

Komarovsky emphasized that drugs based on semaglutide and tirzepatide are a genuine revolution in medicine, comparable to the introduction of antibiotics. Initially developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, they were later found to have a powerful appetite-suppressing effect. According to him, these drugs work physiologically - creating a sense of fullness after a small amount of food.

Weight loss injections: how they work

The doctor explained that the drugs do not "burn fat", but affect the mechanisms of saturation. A person begins to eat significantly less, which leads to weight loss. With proper use, one can lose at least 15% of body weight per year without serious long-term consequences.

Side effects of weight loss drugs

Komarovsky warned that the main danger is associated with improper use of the drugs. People often completely stop eating normally, leading to deficiencies in protein, vitamins, and minerals. As a result, the following may occur:

  • general weakness and loss of energy

  • deterioration of skin condition

  • reduction of muscle and bone mass

  • dizziness and fainting

He emphasized that when taking such medications, it is necessary to monitor nutrition and additionally consume calcium, vitamins, and other supplements.

Komarovsky also pointed out the problem of accessibility of these drugs in Ukraine. According to him, they are not officially sold in pharmacies, which stimulates illegal circulation and violation of storage conditions, including temperature control. The doctor emphasized that obesity of the second and third stages significantly reduces life expectancy and increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and cancers, so these drugs should only be used under medical supervision.
